Eleonora Castagna

My name is Eleonora Castagna, I come from Naples, and I live in Bologna. After studying Fine Arts Graphic Design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples and Illustration at the Scuola Italiana di Comix. I graduated in Editorial Illustration at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. Since 2019, I have been one of the founders of the Quattrozeroquattro collective with whom I experiment with screen printing on paper and fabric and self-published works.

Eleonora Castagna - Treehouse

The idea for the illustration came to me while studying the essay ‘The City in History’ by Lewis Mumford, in which the author traces the evolution of humanity through the description of the urban development of the city over the centuries, leading to the conclusion of the necessary symbiosis between the city and nature. […] The shape of Bologna is able to encapsulate the figure of a tree with branches and roots, on which I have reconstructed an imaginary city that coexists with the tree and nourishes itself through its own roots.
