The masterclasses

“HOW TO DEVELOP A GRAPHIC ILLUSTRATION PROJECT”

Together with the release of the call, two free masterclasses will be held, open to everyone (subject to availability of seats), entitled “How to develop a graphic illustration project”.

The first will be held by Annamaria Stanghellini, artist and teacher of engraving for the course of Comics and Illustration, and by the graphic artist Valentina Lasagni. The masterclass will be held at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, on Saturday, October 13 from 11 to 13. In order to participate in this masterclass, please send your request for registration, including name, surname and date of birth, at: masterclassboit@gmail.com. You will receive a confirmation email with more information. If once registered you are not able participate in the masterclass, please cancel your reservation by Saturday, October 6th, under penalty of exclusion from participating in the competition.

A second free masterclass, open to all and dedicated to people with special needs, will be realized (subject to availability of seats) in collaboration with Cooperativa Sociale Nazareno at “Casa Mantovani” in via Santa Barbara 9 – Bologna, during the month of October 2018. It will be held by the artist Renata Giannelli, specialized in engraving techniques and art graphics. The Masterclass teachers

Annamaria Stanghellini

She graduated in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna in 1982. She has been assistant professor of Engraving Techniques at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan and since 1990 teaches at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.

She began to engrave in 1976 and attended several art print ateliers in Bologna (Atelier S. Leonardo, “Il Navile” …). She collaborated in various art editions (Treccani, Zancanaro, Matta ..) working in her studio with various artists (Manai, Santachiara …) performing in the Academy the posthumous edition of “Alberi between two houses in Grizzana” by G.Morandi for the Morandi Museum. With her graphic works she has been reported in international competitions (Taiwan, Salamanca, Krakow), exhibiting in numerous collective and personal exhibitions (in Bologna, Ravenna, Cagliari, Pescara, Mantua, London, Nurnberg, …), creating illustrations of programs, commemorative engravings and small editions for banks, associations etc.

She has practiced all the traditional, modern and experimental graphic techniques and has been invited to the laboratories of the F. Masereel center in Belgium and to hold Engraving courses in Oland (Sweden).

Valentina Lasagni

Valentina Lasagni

She graduated cum laude in Decoration in 2006 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, with a thesis in history of art on “THE VOID in contemporary work”. After graduation she attended a course in graphics and is still working as a graphic and photo-editor.

During the Academic course, the typology of her works changes continuously, having though the sign as constant. From surveying surfaces she comes to engrave plexiglass, and only later the forced photo-retouching come into play.

She took part in various collective exhibitions and competitions: Bologna, Arte Fiera di Forlì, Piacenza, Fidenza, Boretto (RE), Viadana (MN), second prize in the Graphic Arts competition at Calenzano (FI), New York Young Art Biennial, publication of illustrations on “Illy Word”.

Valentina Lasagni

Renata Giannelli

Artist and designer. She trained at the Polytechnic School of Design in Milan with Bruno Munari and later at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna.

In the years 1980/90 she held the role of art director at Cappelli Publishing Houses and at Nicola Milano Editore. In 1991 she founded the first hand-making paper laboratory and collaborated with Edizioni Grafiche Il Navile, of which she will become the owner in 2003.

She edits graphic works by major Italian and international artists, realizes museum merchandising collections and limited editions. In 2004 she’s awarded by the Bologna and Province Chamber of Commerce, with the Excellence Award. In 2016 she creates the Carte Diem association.
