Elena is an award winning Latin American author, illustrator, and artist, who came to children’s publishing and illustration rather the long way, via architecture and painting. Her internationally published work deals with themes of belonging, community, identity and resilience.

Neptune welcomes back the insects, key and tiny players in the ecosystems we depend on, into a city blooming with opportunities for pollination, for creativity, for the future. I was really excited by this brief. Bologna is a city that brings joy to my heart every time I have the privilege to visit it. Reinterpreting, reimagining and restoring it as a city for insects was magical!
